Five step technique of Cha Cha makes a novice become an expert in Latin dance

"Forward lock step" is the most characteristic dance step in Cha Cha dance, which has appeared in the bronze medal of Cha Cha dance in cdsf Latin dance examination. It is one of the basic dance steps that must be mastered by Latin dancers at the beginning stage.

The forward lock step of Cha Cha dance has five steps in the four beat music. Because the dance steps fully reflect the style and characteristics of Cha Cha dance, and have a very clear sense of rhythm in the way of movement, the movement and conversion of the center of gravity will be very fast, and the conversion process from heel to sole will be fleeting.

In the process of locking step, we should not twist the body too much, otherwise the body center of gravity can not reach the correct position quickly, which will make the dance lose its connectivity and destroy the sense of rhythm.

Preparation (as shown in the figure above)

Keep the basic posture of Latin dance.

Step 1:

Step back (as shown above)

Two points should be paid attention to when retreating: keep the body's center of gravity vertical, avoid hip pouting, which will affect the rapid movement of the center of gravity in the next link; move the center of gravity back to the middle of the back foot. In this dance step, you need to adjust the appropriate center of gravity, and accumulate some energy to ensure that the center of gravity moves forward quickly. The music time to complete this action is one beat.

Step 2:

Upper center of gravity (as shown above)

Through the twist of the body, let the center of gravity quickly pass through the heel of the forefoot, and then reach the sole of the foot. The process of moving the center of gravity should be fast. At the same time, the crotch should be slightly opened to the side to guide the body to form a certain range of twist, so as to accumulate energy for the follow-up actions. The music time to complete this action is one beat.

Step 3:

Change the center of gravity to move forward (as shown in the figure above)

When doing this, put your weight between your feet. As the next step is about to enter the lock step, the body center of gravity should not be too forward, otherwise, the body will lose control when moving quickly, and there will be errors such as leaning forward and losing leg movements. At the same time, the music time of completing the lock step will be occupied, which will affect the rhythm of the dance. The music time to complete this action is half a beat.

As the technical movements of Cha Cha and Rumba are relatively close, we are used to comparing them. Apart from music, the main differences between them are as follows:

In rumba, when we step back, we twist the center of gravity from the heel of the hind foot to the heel; in Cha Cha, due to the change of music time, we only need to enter the middle of the hind foot.

In the forward step of Rumba Dance, we will keep the delayed movement of the center of gravity by twisting to make the movement of the center of gravity appear fuller and the body action more tension; in Cha Cha dance, the center of gravity of the body will move from the heel position to the sole position very quickly. Although in the two kinds of dance, the music time to complete the two steps is one beat, but due to the difference between Rumba music and Chacha music, the application of the center of gravity in the actual dance process is different.

Step 4:

Forward lock step (as shown above)

The hind knee is close to the front knee socket, and the front knee is slightly relaxed, but cannot be excessively bent. Otherwise, the body center of gravity will fluctuate too much and the dance movement will lose coherence. During the whole movement, the center of gravity is always on the sole of the back foot. The music time to complete this action is half a beat.

Step 5:

Open action (as shown above)

The body from the lock position to the next step of the center of gravity conversion link, the body center of gravity through the heel position of the front foot quickly into the sole position, while the body twist, for the next action to store energy. This action is not only the end of the whole Chacha lock step, but also the connection and preparation of the next dance step. When the whole action is completed, the next dance step is ready.
